Aklan SP Pays Tribute To Former SP Member Raz

Spearheaded by Aklan Vice Gov. Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo, the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan paid their last respect to the late Atty. Tomas Soncuya Raz, former Municipal Councilor and Mayor of Banga and former Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan member. The Necrological Program was held on January 04, 2012 at the Raz Residence in Poblacion, Banga, Aklan.

Atty. Ester Briones, former SP member; Honorable Selwyn C. Ibarreta, SP member, Vice Gov. Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo, and Cong. Florencio T. Miraflores of the Province of Aklan represented by his son Jose Enrique Miraflores, who is also a Sangguniang Panlalawigan member, took turns in delivering their tributes to their departed friend and colleague in politics and in local legislation.

The memorial tributes were also attended by Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Raymar A. Rebaldo, Victor M. Garcia, Daisy S. Briones, Jean Rodriguez and Rodson F. Mayor, and the SP Secretariat headed by SP Secretary Odon S. Bandiola.

Meanwhile, the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan, during its 1st Regular Session passed a resolution mainly, sponsored by the Vice Gov. Billie Calizo-Quimpo, expressing their profound and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the late Atty. Tomas Soncuya Raz.

Atty. Tomas Soncuya Raz was a lawyer by profession and one among the successful Aklanons. He was elected as Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Banga for the year 1959-1963. He served as Municipal Mayor of the same Municipality for the year 1964 to 1971 before he was elected member of the SP Aklan from 1972 to 1980, 1992 to 1995 and 1998-2001.

“This August Body found it fitting and proper to pay the fullest respect to the man who has spent a number of years of his life to public service in Aklan province”, Quimpo stressed.

Raz has joined our creator on January 1, 2012 at Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital, Kalibo, Aklan.
