SP Approves P1.115 Billion Aklan 2012 Annual Budget

Kalibo, Aklan. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan has finally enacted the Province’s P1.115 billion Annual Budget for 2012 during its 43rd Regular Session on December 23, 2011.

Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez submitted the said budget to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan on October 16, 2011 for review. The SP then conducted marathon budget hearings starting November 3, until December 16, 2011.

The 2012 General Fund Budget carries a total appropriation of P611,422,729.00 while the annual budget for 2012 of the Economic Enterprise Development Department is P428,165.000.00.

The total appropriation for various programs and projects of the Provincial Government funded under the 20 percent Internal Revenue Alotment Development Fund is P106,667,415.80.

The enactment of the Annual General Fund Budget of Aklan is through Appropriation Ordinance No. 2011-009, while the appropriation for EEDD is through Appropriation Ordinance No. 2011-010 and Appropriation Ordinance No. 2011-011 for 20 percent IRA Development Fund.

As to sectoral appropriations in the Regular Fund Budget, 51 percent is appropriated to the General Public Services, 16 percent to the Social Services, 18 percent to Economic Services and 14 percent to Debt Servicing.

As to revenue sources, the province expect to generate P533.3 million, or 87 percent from its share in the Internal Revenue Allotment, P12 million or two percent from the operating and miscellaneous revenues and P66 million or 11 percent from the local taxes.

In his budget message, Gov. Marquez has adopted the theme for fiscal year 2012 Budget as: “Sustainable Development Thru Enhanced Knowledge, Innovation, Education and Strong Determination to Build a Culture of Action and Success”. /MP
